People truly connected to the planet conduct public and private rituals and ceremonies in which they ask the Earth for forgiveness for the abuses it has suffered at human hands. There are daylong or weeklong tree planting, clean-up, reseeding and other restorative activities.
School children participate in plays, parades, and public ceremonies. They use the arts to illustrate their feelings and experiences of the absence and presence of forgiveness and reconciliation in their lives and in the world. They erect their own Forgiveness Walls.
History and social studies classes explore the roots of conflict, prejudice, repression, and discrimination and gain greater understanding of the separation that characterizes much of our existence.
